Pink Goes Red For A Day
The Health committee hosted "Pink Goes Red For a Day" at our sorority meeting on Saturday, February 11, 2012. All sorors were asked to wear red to the meeting in support of increased awareness of women's heart disease. Ms. Porothea Dennis, MSN, RN from the Dayton VA Medical Center spoke to us about heart disease and it's effect on African American women. She encouraged us to eat healthy and establish regular exercise habits. She informed us of the warning signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest. She reminded us that we must take good care of ourselves. A question and answer period followed her presentation. The health committee also sponsored a display table with informational pamphlets and red dress pins. Heart healthy refreshments were also served.
