The 2011 Susannah B. Ross/Hattie B. Wills 8th Grade Recognition was held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Greater Allen AME Church. The theme was “Preparing Our Youth for Timeless Service”. The speaker was Pastor Paul Mitchell of Revival Ministries, who celebrated the student’s achievement of leadership academics and service. He encouraged the students to keep moving forward and continue to strive to be leaders as they make the transition from junior high to high school.

Out of ninety names that were recommended by area school principals and counselors, fifty-nine young gentlemen and  ladies attended the recognition ceremony. Students from the following schools were represented: Belle Haven, Cleveland Pre K-8, D.E.C.A., Dayton Leadership Academy, Jefferson Jr/Sr High School, Louise Troy Pre K-8, Magsig Middle School, Meadowdale Pre K-8, North Dayton School of Discovery, Northmont Middle School, Patterson Kennedy, Richard Allen Academy, Rosa Parks Pre K-8, St. Albert the Great, Smith Middle School, Stivers School for the Arts, Studebaker Middle School, Tower Heights Middle School, Trotwood-Madison Middle School, West Carrolton Middle School, and Wogaman Pre K-8.
